Allocation of a Named GP for all Patients

As part of the 2015 GP Contract all GP practices need to allocate a named GP to their patients of all ages.  We have decided to allocate patients to a named GP based on the initial letter of their surname

A – M = Allocated to Dr Karen Bense

N – Z = Allocated to Dr P E Scott

The doctors of Chester Road Surgery jointly take responsibility for the co-ordination of care and appropriate services that patients may require.  The care of patients remains ‘practice based’ so the overall responsibility for your care as a patient at Chester Road Surgery has not changed.  The role of a named GP is largely one of oversight with the requirements of the GP contract being introduced to reassure patients that they have one named GP within the practice who is responsible for ensuring that their patient care is complete.

Can patients choose their own named GP?

You can see that patients have been allocated in this practice by surname.  If any patients request a particular GP to become their named GP reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate their preference and if they make their choice known to reception our computer records will be suitably amended.

Do patients have to see only their named GP at the practice?

No. Patients must feel free to choose to see any GP/Nurse/HCA in the practice in line with their needs or our practice arrangements.
